Worthy Living

The apostle Paul urges believers to “walk worthy of your calling” by exhibiting humility, gentleness, patience, and love, and striving to maintain the unity of the Spirit. He emphasizes the oneness of believers—one body, one Spirit, one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father —and explains that Christ has given gifts for church growth and maturity. Paul contrasts this calling with the former way of life of unbelievers, who were alienated from the life of God and given to impurity and greed, calling for a new life that reflects the church’s identity and unity in Christ.
