His Part, Our Part

Jesus gave us a behind-the-scenes look at what the Father does as we invite people to Jesus.  In John 6:41, Jesus declares that He is the Bread of Life – the Manna from Heaven. The day before, He had fed five thousand people, so the crowds followed Him to get more bread.  Jesus began to teach them that HE WAS the Bread of Life sent down from Heaven. The Jewish leaders listening rebuffed Jesus’ divine claim of coming down from Heaven because they knew his earthly parents.

Jesus rebuked them by revealing the process of salvation: "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him.”  The Bible teaches that ever since sin entered the world, the heart of humanity has been tainted by sin and is inclined to lead us toward self-centeredness and away from God.  God made the first move to provide salvation through the work of Jesus on the cross. Then, God also provides the grace that enables us to turn from our innate sinfulness and respond to His call. Thank God for His prevenient and saving grace enabling us to respond through repenting, believing, and receiving His offer.
